TEACHERS OF ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

The Association, Faculty and Society have reached an understanding in relation to TEFL/TESOL practitioners so as to be clear on acceptance of qualifications for registration and relevant membership.
 
The Following are immediately acceptable at their various grades for Associate, Member admissions.
 
1.  Faculty of Secretaries/Faculty of Secretaries and Administrators Certificates and Diplomas
      issued until cessation of their examined scheme.  Holders may be checked against the register of
      The Faculty of Secretaries and Administrators (UK Body this does not net exetend to overseas
      Faculty bodies as F.S.&A. have yet to give endorsement to those bodies)
 
 
2.  Holders of awards validated by The College of Teachers (formerley The College of Preceptors)
      .
 
3.  Holders of awards of
 
4.  Holders of appropriate Cambridge awards.
 
5.  Other awards (e.g. Univesities such as e.g. University of Central Lancashire (www.uclan.ac.uk)
      and similar) which can be checked as at least reaching the standards of The College of Teachers
      accredited awards or the former Faculty of Secretaries awards.
 
6.  NB that whilst the holding of a PTLLS (Preparation for Teaching in Lifelong Learning in Skills)
      award is considered for ASBT registration it also requires subject qualification and is not a
     replacement for TEFL/TESOL qualification in relation to MSBT and we define comparison
     The College of Teachers higher awards and former Faculty of Teachers in Commerce Levels
     which are set at a further and more demanding (H.E.) level than PTLLS or initial IFL.

London Chamber of Commerce and Industry International - see below re TEFL re-grade.     CertTEFL Level 5

The EDI Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language accredited at Level 4 on the National Qualifications Framework has expired and has been

replaced with Level 5 Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (CertTEFL).

The new level 5 qualification is accredited on the Qualifications and Credit Framework and has been developed through discussions with Lifelong Learning

UK (LLUK ), the Sector Skills Council responsible for this teacher training in the UK, and the other Awarding Organisations

As the level 4 qualification has now expired LCCI will not accept any further registrations for this qualification. You will find full details of what this

involves in the CertTEFL specification found on the LCCI IQ website www.lcci.org.uk
